Literature Text

Inspiration is a frail godly thing:
she's lofty, lifted by strong, golden wings-
she soars between the hot, dazed psyche
and glides on turbulent tides unseen.

Elusive intent in fight, sight, and scent...
she silently crawls between brain cement-
she brings the bright vision of loves sweet faces,
a sunburst of repetitive disgraces.

In my despair she softly calms my tears
and rawly releases forgotten fears...
she pulses in my pen and bends my mind
euphorically moaning each word I scribe:
brought before her divine, relentless whim
with a warm, seductive sigh- I give in.

I wrote this, obviously, about inspiration. Sometimes I write and my poetry reveals the deepest, most personal parts of my mind I try to block out. And with the release that I get when I write, or finish a piece, it is like the poetry isn't something that I consciously wrote. It is almost painful to write most times, but something almost divine, almost otherworldly moves me to write passionately. This poem represents that.
